Walk through the streets of King's Landing with a local guide who knows every filming spot, every scene, and every story behind the show. Two hours of Dubrovnik's Old Town like you've never seen it.
When the producers of Game of Thrones picked Dubrovnik as King’s Landing, they knew what they were doing. The Old Town looks like it was pulled straight out of George R. R. Martin’s books — and the fact that it was once a real capital city, the Republic of Ragusa, only adds to the atmosphere.
On this two-hour walking tour, a local guide takes you through all the spots where the biggest scenes were filmed: Pile Gate (the riot scene with Joffrey), Fort Lovrijenac — better known as the Red Keep — the Jesuit Staircase where Cersei’s Walk of Shame was shot, and the old port that doubled as Blackwater Bay.
At every stop, you’ll see actual stills from the episodes lined up against the real locations — it’s one of those things that hits different in person. And because some of our guides actually worked on the show as extras or crew members, the behind-the-scenes stories are first-hand, not recycled from the internet.
We meet at the Large Onofrio’s Fountain, just inside Pile Gate. Look for the guide with the red umbrella. Please arrive 10 minutes before your departure time.
Our first stop overlooks the bay where the Battle of the Blackwater unfolded — wildfire, ships, and all. Standing here, you can picture the green flames lighting up the water. Your guide breaks down exactly how they filmed it and what the bay really looked like on set.
The menacing fortress that IS the Red Keep. Compare scenes from multiple seasons, with insider stories about the filming process.
The main entrance to the Old Town doubled as King’s Landing’s city gate in multiple scenes — from the infamous riot where Joffrey was pelted with dung, to the beach below where the Gold Cloaks carried out the massacre of Robert Baratheon’s bastard sons. One gate, two of the show’s most brutal moments.
Walk the main limestone street and hidden alleyways where dozens of King’s Landing scenes were filmed throughout the series.
Stand where Cersei made her infamous Walk of Atonement. The baroque staircase inspired by Rome’s Spanish Steps became one of the most iconic filming locations in TV history.
The stunning Gothic-Renaissance palace that served as the exterior of the Spice King’s Palace in Qarth. We admire its famous façade and ornate columns from the outside — a filming location most visitors walk right past without realising.
